Get started →Account + Onboarding
How do I sign up?
expand
Go to usetradingos.com and click "Get Started." We use Clerk for authentication, so you can sign up with email + password, Google, or Apple. Email verification takes about 30 seconds. After that, you'll land in onboarding — pick your asset class, your trading style, and your default app mode (Easy, Standard, or Hardcore — you can change this later in settings). The whole flow is under 3 minutes. We don't ask for your phone number, your home address, or your trading account size. We ask the minimum required to set up your journal and personalize your experience. If you hit any issue during sign-up, refresh once. If it persists, email support — we usually fix sign-up issues within a few hours during business days.
Do I need to verify my email?
expand
Yes. Email verification protects your data and prevents spam accounts from clogging the system. After signing up, check your inbox for a message from Clerk. If you don't see it, check spam, then check your "Promotions" tab. The verification link expires in 24 hours. If yours has expired, log in and we'll send a fresh one. If you're not getting any email at all, the most likely cause is your email provider blocking us — try a different address or check with your IT admin if it's a work email. We don't sell your email and we don't subscribe you to marketing without consent.
What happens during onboarding?
expand
We ask you a handful of questions to personalize your experience: what asset class you trade (futures, stocks, options, forex, crypto, or "all of the above"), whether you're in a prop firm evaluation, what your trading style is (scalp, day, swing), and which app mode you want (Easy, Standard, Hardcore). None of these are locked in — you can change them all in settings. After onboarding, you land on the dashboard and we suggest your first action: log a trade, attach a strategy, or import a CSV. The brand promise is: log your first trade in under 60 seconds. Onboarding doesn't ask for credit card info — Free tier is real and unlimited in time.
Can I import my existing trade history?
expand
Yes. We support CSV import from most major platforms (Tradovate, ThinkOrSwim, IBKR, NinjaTrader, MetaTrader). Go to Journal → Import, upload your CSV, and the wizard will help you map columns to our schema. Spot-check the first few rows after import — column orders sometimes change between platforms. We don't currently support direct broker API connections, but they're on the V1.5 roadmap. If your platform isn't listed, email us a sample CSV and we'll add it. Imported trades are tagged so analytics can split manual vs imported data — useful for quality control.
Can I delete my account?
expand
Yes, anytime, from Settings → Account → Delete. Deletion is final — your trades, journal entries, AI conversations, and stats are wiped within 30 days from our database and from backups within 90 days. Before you delete, you can export everything (Settings → Data Export) as JSON and CSV. We don't have a "deactivate but keep" option — deletion means deletion. If you change your mind during the 30-day soft window, email support and we may be able to recover the account, but we don't guarantee it. ---
Billing + Pro Upgrade
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
expand
Free gives you up to 50 trades logged total, basic dashboard, manual logging only, and no AI agents. It's not a trial — it's a real free tier you can stay on forever if 50 trades is enough for you. Pro is $29/month founding price (locking in for 12 months for early users) or $49/month standard. Pro unlocks: unlimited trades, all three AI agents (Coach, Risk Manager, Strategy Analyst), CSV import, voice journaling, screenshot OCR, the statistical lab, and Edge Score with all components. We don't gate basic features behind Pro — the Free tier is a real product, not a demo.
What is "founding pricing"?
expand
Founding pricing is $29/month, locked in for 12 months from the date you upgrade. After 12 months, your subscription renews at the standard price ($49/month at launch). Founding pricing is real but limited — once we hit our founding cap, the price moves to standard for new sign-ups. We won't run "fake urgency" countdowns. When the cap is close, we'll say so honestly. Founding members also get a permanent "Founding Member" badge on their profile.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
expand
From any locked feature, click the "Upgrade to Pro" CTA. From settings, go to Settings → Billing → Upgrade. We use Stripe for billing — you'll see Stripe's checkout, not ours. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay all supported. Subscription starts immediately. You can cancel anytime from the same Billing screen — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period (you keep Pro features until then).
How do I cancel my subscription?
expand
Go to Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation is one click. We don't ask you to "confirm three times" or sit through a sales pitch. Your Pro features stay active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. After that, you drop to the Free tier — your data isn't deleted, you just lose access to Pro features. If you re-subscribe later, all your old data is right there.
Do you offer refunds?
expand
We offer a 14-day refund window for first-time Pro subscribers. After 14 days, refunds are evaluated case-by-case (technical issues, billing errors). Email support@usetradingos.com with your account email and we'll handle it within 2 business days. We don't refund founding pricing locks — that pricing is honored for the full 12 months whether you cancel or stay. Annual plans (when launched) follow the same 14-day rule. ---
Journaling
How do I log a trade manually?
expand
From the dashboard, click "+ New Trade" or use the keyboard shortcut J. The form asks for the essentials: instrument, side (long/short), entry price, stop, target, exit, size, R-multiple, and an optional note. The whole form takes 30-60 seconds the first time and 15-20 seconds when you're familiar. Required fields are minimal — we'd rather you log fast and add details later than skip the log. Once submitted, the trade enters your journal and starts feeding analytics immediately.
Can I log trades by voice?
expand
Yes (Pro). Click the mic icon on the trade form, speak your trade ("Long ES at 5840, stop 5836, target 5848, exited at 5848 plus 2R"), and Whisper transcribes it into the form fields. You review before submitting — voice never auto-saves without your confirmation. Voice journaling is useful for capturing thoughts mid-session when typing breaks your flow. Audio is processed via OpenAI Whisper, then discarded — we don't store the audio file.
Can I screenshot my trade and have it parsed?
expand
Yes (Pro). Drag a screenshot of your broker trade history onto the trade form. Our OCR pipeline (Claude Vision) reads instrument, side, entry, exit, P&L, and time. Review the extracted fields, fix anything that looks off, and submit. Screenshot OCR is best for end-of-day batch logging when you have a screen full of fills. It's not perfect — some platforms have layouts we don't recognize yet. Email us your platform if accuracy is bad and we'll improve it.
How does CSV import work?
expand
From Journal → Import (Pro), upload your platform's CSV. The wizard auto-detects most major platforms and maps columns to our schema. Edge cases (custom CSV exports, unusual brokers) require manual column mapping — drag the column headers into the right fields. Before final import, you'll see a preview of the first 20 trades. Spot-check before confirming — once imported, trades are in your journal. You can delete an imported batch from Journal → Import History if something went wrong.
Why is journaling so important?
expand
Two reasons. First: without a written record, your brain rewrites the trade afterward. The 100-trade sample you "remember" is not the 100-trade sample that happened. Second: every analytics feature in the app depends on logged data. Strategy comparison, Edge Score, expectancy, AI coaching — all of it goes blind without journal entries. The brand-level reason: the trader who journals graduates. The trader who doesn't, repeats. We've never seen an exception. ---
Analytics + Edge Score + Compliance
What is Edge Score?
expand
Edge Score is a 0-100 composite score combining four inputs: compliance with your rules, expectancy of your trades, sample size, and consistency. It's designed to be the single number that catches all the ways trading "looks good" while being broken. A high win rate alone won't push your Edge Score up if your sample is tiny. A profitable streak won't if your compliance is poor. It's intentionally hard to game — because the things it measures are the things that matter. 70+ is "Edge Locked" — the system telling you the discipline is yours now.
How is compliance calculated?
expand
Compliance is the percentage of your trades that followed your stated rules. You define your rules in your trading plan (or attached strategy). On each trade, we check: did the entry match the setup? Was the size correct? Did you respect your daily max loss? Did you exit at your stop or target as planned? A 100% compliant trade can still be a loser — we don't grade on outcome, we grade on process. Compliance % is your headline metric, more important than P&L for the brand-purposes of this app.
How big a sample do I need before stats mean anything?
expand
For a single strategy, 30 trades is the rough floor where stats start to be more than noise. 100 trades is when you can be meaningful confident. 300+ trades is convincing. Below 30 trades, the app shows the stat but flags it as low-confidence. We don't hide the number, but we don't pretend it's reliable either. If you're early in a strategy, the right answer is more reps — not more analysis.
What does "Edge Locked" mean?
expand
Edge Locked is the badge that fires when your Edge Score crosses 70 and stays there for at least 30 days. It's the moment the app says: "the discipline is yours now." It's also the brand's soul — we want to make ourselves unnecessary. You can keep using Trading OS after Edge Locked, of course, but the design philosophy is graduation, not lock-in. Most users never see this badge in their first year. The ones who do, earn it.
Can I trust the stats if I'm new?
expand
Trust them as directional, not gospel. Below 30 trades, your stats are mostly noise. The app will tell you this — small samples are flagged. Use early stats to spot patterns (when you trade, what setups work, where mistakes cluster), but don't make scaling decisions on a 12-trade sample. The most useful early stat for a new trader is compliance %, not P&L. P&L tells you what happened. Compliance tells you whether you can repeat it. ---
AI Agents
What does the Coach do?
expand
Coach is your day-to-day AI companion. You ask questions about your trading; Coach reads your data and answers in your chosen tone (Easy, Standard, or Hardcore). Examples: "What's my best setup this month?", "Why did I lose on Friday?", "Is my stop too tight on FCRT trades?" Coach uses Claude Sonnet on the backend and pulls from your real data, not generic advice. It's intentionally honest — Coach won't tell you what you want to hear if your data says otherwise. Pro feature.
What does the Risk Manager do?
expand
Risk Manager monitors your live activity for risk violations — daily loss limits approached, oversized positions, post-loss revenge trade patterns. It alerts you in real time when you're approaching a rule violation, before you breach. You can configure alert thresholds in settings. Risk Manager is the "intervention" agent — it's designed to be the friction between you and a tilt trade. Pro feature.
What does the Strategy Analyst do?
expand
Strategy Analyst dives deep into your trade data to surface patterns: what days perform best, what time-of-day setups win, where your mistakes cluster, which confluences correlate with positive R. You can ask it specific questions ("Show me my worst-performing entry pattern") or run pre-built analyses. Outputs include charts, p-values, and confidence intervals — not just narrative. Best used during weekly and monthly reviews, not during live sessions. Pro feature.
Are the AI agents actually reading my data?
expand
Yes. We pass your real trade data to Claude in the prompt — the agents are not generic chatbots. They reference your specific trades, your strategies, your timeframes. We do not train any AI model on your data — your data is sent at inference time only and is not retained for training. Anthropic's terms confirm this for Claude API usage.
Can the AI just tell me to stop trading?
expand
Sometimes, yes. If your data shows clear signs of tilt, persistent rule-breaking, or a strategy that's lost its edge, the agents will say so directly. The strength of the language depends on your app mode — Hardcore Mode says "stop"; Standard Mode says "consider stopping"; Easy Mode says "you might want to take a break." We designed it this way on purpose. Honest AI is more valuable than agreeable AI. ---
Eval Profiles + Prop Firm Flow
How do I set up a prop firm evaluation?
expand
In Settings, turn on Prop Firm Mode. Then go to Eval Profiles → New Eval. Pick your firm (Topstep, Apex, TPT, E2T, others), pick the account size, and the app pre-fills the rules: profit target, max daily loss, trailing drawdown, consistency rule. Confirm or edit. From that point, every trade tagged to that eval feeds the eval dashboard — buffer remaining, days until eligible, P&L vs target. Most users won't see prop firm features unless they enable Prop Firm Mode — we don't push them on people who don't trade evals.
Which prop firms do you support?
expand
Out of the box: Topstep, Apex, Take Profit Trader (TPT), Earn2Trade (E2T), and a few smaller ones. Custom firms can be added manually — pick "Other" and enter the rules yourself. We update the firm rules quarterly because firms change them. If your firm isn't listed and you'd like first-class support, email us and we'll prioritize.
What happens when I pass an eval?
expand
Mark the eval as "Passed" in the eval dashboard. The app archives that eval profile, awards the achievement (one of our favorites — first funded account is a real milestone), and prompts you to set up your funded account profile. Funded accounts have their own rules and tracking. The passed eval stays in your history forever and feeds long-term stats.
What if I breach the rules?
expand
If you breach max daily loss or trailing drawdown, mark the eval as "Failed" in the dashboard. The app doesn't judge — failed evals are part of the journey for almost every successful prop trader. The journal stays. The data feeds into your overall stats and into Strategy Analyst's review of why the breach happened. Many of the most useful AI sessions come right after a breach.
Can I run multiple evals at once?
expand
Yes. From Eval Profiles, add as many as you're running. Each eval has its own buffer, rules, and stats. The dashboard shows them side by side. Multi-account is a real strategy at the funded level, but for most evaluation phases, focus on one at a time produces better results. The app supports multi, but the brand voice will gently suggest single-eval focus until you've passed at least one. ---
Mobile / Responsive
Is there a mobile app?
expand
Not yet — we ship a fully responsive web app that works in any modern mobile browser. Logging trades, viewing dashboard, chatting with Coach all work on mobile. Native iOS and Android apps are V1.5/V2 (Q3 2026). You can add the web app to your home screen for an app-like feel — works well on iOS Safari and Chrome.
Can I log a trade from my phone?
expand
Yes. The trade form is mobile-optimized — tap-friendly fields, large buttons, voice journaling on phones is especially good. Logging a trade from phone takes about as long as on desktop. Many users log on phone during the trading day and review on desktop in the evening.
Does the dashboard work on mobile?
expand
Yes, but charts are smaller. Recharts (our charting library) is responsive but a 6-inch screen has limits. For deep analytics review, we recommend desktop or tablet. For quick checks (today's P&L, current Edge Score, compliance streak), mobile is fine.
Can I get push notifications?
expand
Browser push notifications work on most desktop browsers. Mobile push requires the home-screen-installed PWA on iOS, native support on Android. Notifications cover: streak reminders, AI agent alerts (if enabled), eval buffer warnings, achievement unlocks. All notifications can be turned off individually in Settings → Notifications.
What about offline mode?
expand
The app is online-first. Logging a trade requires an internet connection to save. We're considering a "queue and sync" mode for V2 — log offline, sync when reconnected. For now, if you're trading in an environment with unreliable internet, log to a paper notebook and import via CSV later. ---
Troubleshooting
My trade didn't save — what happened?
expand
Most common cause: a network blip during submission. Refresh the page and check Journal → Trades. If it's there, you're good. If not, re-enter it (sorry — it should auto-retry, and we're working on a queue mechanism). If trades repeatedly fail to save, check your browser's developer console for errors and email support with a screenshot. Don't keep retrying for 20 minutes — log it on paper, email us, we'll fix it.
The dashboard is showing wrong numbers — what do I do?
expand
First check: did you import duplicate trades from CSV? Common cause. Go to Journal → Search and filter by date to spot duplicates, delete them. Second check: filters. Sometimes a strategy filter is silently active and you're seeing a subset. Reset filters with the "Clear All" button. If the numbers still look wrong, screenshot what you see (with the calculation you expect) and email support — billing-affecting bugs get same-day fixes.
AI Coach is being weird / hallucinating — what do I do?
expand
Click "Report" on any AI response that's wrong. The report goes straight to our review queue. Common cause of weird answers: very small sample size (Coach is reaching). Try asking the same question with more trades logged. If Coach is referencing trades that don't exist or strategies you didn't attach, that's a bug — please report so we can fix. We log AI conversations for quality review (you can opt out in Settings → Privacy).
Voice journaling isn't transcribing correctly — what do I do?
expand
Make sure you're speaking clearly with minimal background noise. Whisper is accurate but not perfect. The transcription preview shows you exactly what was heard — you can edit it before saving. If transcription is consistently bad on a quiet input, check your mic permissions in browser settings. If it's still bad, switch to typing. Email us with the audio context (mic type, browser, OS) and we'll investigate.
I'm getting logged out repeatedly — help?
expand
Most common cause: browser cookie settings or extensions blocking auth cookies. Try a different browser to confirm. If incognito works but normal browser doesn't, an extension is interfering. Whitelist usetradingos.com in any privacy/blocker extensions. If incognito also logs you out, clear your cookies for our domain and sign back in. If issues persist, email support — auth issues get top priority. ---
Brand Philosophy
Why "Process Over P&L"?
expand
Because P&L lies. The trader who follows their rules and loses today is set up to win the month. The trader who breaks rules and wins today is teaching themselves to repeat the rule-break — until the day it costs them everything. We celebrate compliance, streaks, and discipline because those are the inputs that compound. Money follows process. We've yet to see it work the other way.
What are "App Modes" (Easy/Standard/Hardcore)?
expand
App Mode controls the tone of the AI feedback you receive. Hardcore Mode is direct, blunt, numbers-first — for traders who want zero sugarcoating. Standard Mode (default) is honest but kind — calls out mistakes without being harsh. Easy Mode is encouraging — focuses on growth and reframes losses constructively. The data is the same in all three modes; only the voice changes. You pick at onboarding and can change anytime in Settings.
What is Pause Mode?
expand
Pause Mode is a deliberate, time-boxed break from trading. You enable it in Settings, set a duration (3 days, 1 week, 1 month, custom), and the app respects it — no streak guilt, no "you missed a day" notifications, dashboard shows a calm "On break" message. You can take a Pause for any reason: drawdown, life events, fatigue, or just because. Mental health is trading health. We are the only platform that says this out loud, and we're proud of it.
Why do streaks reset on missed days?
expand
Streaks are a tool to build the daily logging habit, and they only work as a tool if they're real. A "streak" that survives any miss isn't a streak — it's a participation trophy. We wrestled with this. Our compromise: honest streaks reset, but Pause Mode protects you from streak loss when you're deliberately away. So missing a day because you forgot — streak resets. Missing a week because you took a planned break — streak protected.
What does "Graduate" mean?
expand
Graduate is the moment your Edge Score crosses 70 and holds there for 30 days. The app celebrates it differently than other achievements — instead of "level up!" energy, the message is calmer: "The discipline is yours now." It's the brand's soul. The app's goal is to make itself unnecessary. Most users never reach Graduate — and that's honest. The ones who do, earn it the hard way, and we celebrate quietly with them. ---
Privacy + Data Export
Who can see my trades?
expand
Only you, by default. Trading OS is private-first. We don't have public profiles in V1. In V2, we'll add opt-in public profiles — you choose what to share (badges, streaks, anonymized stats). P&L dollar amounts will never be public, ever. Specific trade entries (price, size) will never be public, ever. Account balances will never be public, ever. The community features we build are designed to share process, not money.
Do you sell my data?
expand
No. We don't sell, share, or monetize your trading data. Our business model is the Pro subscription — that's how we make money, and that's the only way. Your data is yours. We use it to deliver features (analytics, AI coaching) and that's it. Full privacy policy at usetradingos.com/privacy.
Do you use my data to train AI?
expand
No. We send your data to Claude (Anthropic) at inference time to power the AI agents. Anthropic's terms confirm API data is not retained for model training. We do not train our own models on your data. We do log AI conversations briefly for quality review and abuse detection (opt-out available in Settings → Privacy). After 90 days, AI logs are anonymized and aggregated for system improvement only.
Can I export all my data?
expand
Yes. Settings → Data Export. You'll get a ZIP with everything: trades (CSV and JSON), journal entries, AI conversations, settings, achievement history. Export is on demand and free. We'll email you when the export is ready (large accounts can take a few minutes to package). The export is yours — no DRM, no encryption, just clean files.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
expand
If you cancel Pro, your data stays put — you just lose access to Pro features. Free tier users keep all logged trades up to the 50-trade cap (older trades are archived but not deleted). If you delete your account entirely, data is wiped from the database within 30 days and from backups within 90 days. We notify you 7 days before final deletion in case you change your mind. After final deletion, the data is gone — we cannot recover it.
